Women’s Basketball The women took on and defeated Centenary last Monday night 98-49. Five of the kangaroos finished with points in the double digits. On Saturday the women went on to another win against Western Illinois, 58-51. Freshman Ashli Hill and Eilise O’Connor scored 12 points each. Men’s Basketball The men took another Summit League win on Saturday against Western Illinois, 55-46. The win marked the first weekend sweep in Coach Matt Brown’s career. Women’s Tennis On Friday the women took a 6-1 over Southeast Missouri State. It was the first win of the season for the women. Track On Friday and Saturday the track team travelled to Ames Iowa. Women’s Basketball The lady Roos won both of their games at the Lady Osprey Holiday Tournament held Dec. 18-19 in Jacksonville, Fla. Dec. 18, they beat the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats 60-51. Dec. 19, they beat the Troy Trojans 62-55. Freshman guard Eilise O’Connor was not only named to the all-Tournament Team, but was named the Tournament MVP. Dec. 29, in Kansas City, the Roos lost to the North Dakota State Bison 71-59. Dec. 31, in Kansas City, the Roos lost to the South Dakota State Jackrabbits, 81-59. Jan. 3, in Lawrence, Kan., the Roos lost to the Kansas Jayhawks 56-41. The UMKC Women’s basketball team is currently 5-10. Men’s Basketball The men played two games over the break starting Nov. 20, taking a 70-62 win over Southeast Missouri State. Senior Bakari Lewis led the Roos in scoring with 21 points, nine of which came from behind the arc. Last Wednesday they went on to continue their undefeated start with an 82-64 win over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Senior Jay Couisnard tallied a career-high 26 points on the night. Women’s Basketball The women had a busy break, playing four games, two at home and two on the road. The first two saw a loss and a win. The 68-75 loss came on Nov. 20 against the University of Texas-Arlington, while the 71-59 win came on Tuesday over Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Men’s Soccer The men lost their final game of regular season play to Western Illinois 2-1. Junior Diego Rojas scored the single goal in the last minute of the game. Volleyball The women picked up a Summit League win on Friday night to Centenary three sets to none. Ella Meier recorded 18 assists on the night. Men’s Basketball The men opened their season annihilating Ottowa 84-42 in an exhibition game on Friday night. Men’s Soccer The men started the week out on a loss but ended it with a big conference win. The 2-1 loss came on Tuesday night in St. Louis at overtime. Women’s Soccer After Thursday’s game, the women went on to a match versus Oakland University here at Durwood. The women put their best foot forward with taking the game into overtime though losing 2-1 in the 99th minute. Volleyball On Saturday, the women lost a home game against South Dakota State, three sets to zero. Demetria Williams notched a team high of nine kills.
