Men’s tennis loses 4-3 against Bradley

The men’s tennis team lost 4-3 to Bradley on Friday at the Plaza Tennis Center. The Roos’ fell to 4-15. In doubles play, juniors Grant Fleming and Tim Akhmedov won 8-1 victory. At the No.2 spot, senior Gustavo and junior Abdulrahman Alawadhi lost a tie-breaker 8-9 (2-7), while at No.3, sophomore Tomas Patino and freshman Conner Edwards also lost a tie-breaker 8-9 (5-7). In singles play, Fleming, Patino and Alawadhi won. Fleming beat Hamish Weerasinghe 7-5, 5-7, 10-6 at the No.1 spot, and Patino won the No.2 match with 6-4, 6-2. Men’s tennis completes undefeated weekend

The men’s tennis team capped an undefeated weekend while gaining its first Summit League victory of the season, 5-2 over the IPFW Mastodons at the Plaza Tennis Center on Saturday evening. After a four-hour rain delay, the Roos won the doubles point by taking two of three hotly contested matches. In the No.1 match, Grant Fleming and Tim Akhmedov fell 8-5, before Guerin and Abdulrahman Alawadhi won the No. 2 match, 8-4. In the No. 3 match, which determined the doubles point, the No. 3 pair of Conner Edwards and Tomas Patino won the last six games for an 8-3 victory. A weekend of extremes

After an impressive victory over Nebraska-Omaha on Friday, the Lady Roos (12-11) lost 7-0 on the road to the University of Arkansas-Little Rock on Saturday morning. Despite opening doubles play with a win from the No.1 team of Eva Dalvai and Laura Bouet, the Roos lost the remaining two doubles matches. The Roos lost all six singles matches in straight sets. That loss represented an abrupt turnaround from Friday, when the Roos defeated Nebraska-Omaha, 6-1 at the Plaza Tennis Center. The Roos won all three doubles contests, while winning five of six singles matches. In doubles, the No.1 pair of juniors Bouet and Dalvai won 8-5. Men’s Tennis UMKC Men’s Tennis continued with their winning streak by defeating Cowley County Community College and Oral Roberts. On Tuesday, April 12 the Roos faced Cowley County at the Plaza Tennis Center. They defeated them 6-1. Men’s tennis defeats Northwest Missouri State The UMKC men’s tennis team defeated Northwest Missouri State 4-3 on Wednesday, March 30 at the Plaza Tennis Center. The victory was the seventh for the Roos and improved their overall to 9-6. Sophomore Grant Fleming notched two wins on the day to lead the Roos. He came back to defeat Calvin Patterson after dropping the first set. He had earlier combined with fellow sophomore Nino Hasandedic to down the Bearcats top duo 8-5. Sophomore Abdul Alawadhi was victorious in three sets in the No. 3 slot and freshman Cameron Schoenhofer and sophomore David Heckler needed the minimum of two sets to get the wins in the No.4 and No. 5 slots, respectively.
