A penalty kick – in the gut

The men’s soccer team took a devastating blow in the penalty kick round of the semi-finals last Friday. After drawing the game to a 0-0 close and two overtime periods, the number-one seeded Roos lost 7-6 in penalty kicks against the fourth seeded Oral Roberts. “When you’re heading into a shootout it’s really just by chance,” said Head Coach Rick Benben. He explained that when a game isn’t won in regulation then no matter which the stronger team is, it comes down to a single player and the opposing goalie. Head Coach Frugoli resigns

Women’s volleyball Head Coach Geno Frugoli resigned on Thursday, Sept. 16. The department of athletics released that the resignation was for personal reasons but would not expound. The resignation came before the women went into their second home game of the season on Thursday night against Oral Roberts. Associate Head Coach Joan Rickert took over the position as interim head coach immediately following the announcement and led the women in Thursday night’s game.
