Sports Information Director James Allan recently left UMKC athletics with big shoes to fill. National News: MSNBC anchor suspended for donation
On Friday, news spread of the indefinite suspension of MSNBC news anchor Keith Olbermann. The suspension came after Olbermann reportedly made three separate donations of $2,400 to democratic candidates in the Nov. 2 election. Olbermann, former host of the shows “Democratic Nightly News” and “Countdown,” was a clear supporter of the Democratic Party. For the past few weeks, The University News has been in correspondence with what has turned out to be a pressure group that calls itself the movement. This group has engaged in what we consider bullying tactics in an effort to exert its influence on The University News. We will never be manipulated or swayed by harassing tactics or threats of action. Any hints or veiled threats about funding of the newspaper, as implied in some of the correspondence below, smacks of infringement upon First Amendment rights and could endanger academic freedom.
