Johnathon Barnett’s interest in athletics goes back to the fourth grade when he decided that he wanted to play a sport. “I wanted to play football or basketball, but my father didn’t,” he said. In high school, he realized his aptitude for running. “I started running track my sophomore year,” he said. “I was serious about it, and then I just fell in love with it”. Originally from St. Louis, senior Barnett does not regret leaving home. “I am here because of the great coaches” he said. “It was a great choice to come to UMKC and I am very thankful”.
