Lady Roos take 6th at Jackrabbit Invitational
The women’s golf team finished 6th position in the Jackrabbit Invitational with a three-round score of 949 (318-309-322)on Tuesday at the Primm Valley Golf Club in Primm, Nev. Junior Taylor Fisher achieved a team-low 230 (74-76-80), finishing 6th place. It was her first top-10 finish this season. Sophomore Emily Isaacson totaled 235 (80-77-78), tying for 11th place, while freshman Rachel Mulkey rounded out the Roos’ top-20 finishers with 237 (80-75-82), tying for 16th. Freshman Susan Kirschenman tied at 35th, senior Madison Maddox tied for 67th and freshman Micah Radler placed 62nd. Arkansas State won the Invitational with a score of 938. Tennis: Lady Roos continue winning streak
The women’s tennis team won last week against South Dakota, IUPUI, Western Illinois and Southern Utah at the Summit League Cluster in Las Vegas, Nev. The Roos (8-7, 4-0 in Summit League play) tie for 1st with IPFW, and remain unbeaten in conference play. UMKC 4 – Southern Utah 3 In Saturday morning’s match against the Southern Utah Thunderbirds, the Roos took the doubles point and split the singles points, winning 4-3. Doubles pair junior Suzan Lisenby and freshman Amelie Amsallem won 9-7 at the No.2 spot. Juniors Eva Dalvai and Laura Bouet lost 8-5 at the No.1 spot. The Thunderbirds forfeited the deciding doubles match at the No.3 spot due to unavailable players. Lady Roos advance to Summit League semifinals
The women’s basketball team reached the semifinals of the Summit League Conference Tournament after defeating No. 5 seed Oakland 72-59 Sunday in Sioux Falls, S.D.at the Sioux Falls Arena. The third-seeded Roos’ next opponent was seventh-seeded Western Illinois with tipoff scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Monday. On Sunday, senior Kim Nezianya led the Roos with 15 points, while sophomore guard Eilise O’Connor scored 12. Seniors LeAndrea Thomas and Dayon Hall-Jones each scored 11 points against the Grizzlies. The women’s golf team took seventh place at the 2012 Islander Classic with a team score of 943 (318, 311, 314) on Feb. 27-28 in Corpus Christi, Tex. Junior Taylor Fisher led the Roos, totaling 232 (78-75-79) to tie for 19th place. Freshmen Susan Kirschenman (78-79-78) and Rachel Mulkey (83-74-78) tied for 29th, each with a score of 235. Lady Roos cement No. 3 seed in league tournament
The women’s basketball team clinched the No.3 seed for the 2012 Summit League Championships this week after defeating IUPUI and IPFW to take its record to 19-10 (10-7 in Summit League play) for the season. The Lady Roos completed a narrow 58-56 victory over IUPUI on Feb. 20 in Indianapolis, Ind. before returning Saturday evening to the Swinney Rec. Center to outshoot IPFW 79-62. UMKC 79 – 62 IPFW In Saturday evening’s home contest, senior Dayon Hall-Jones led the Roos’ offensive attack with 25 points, moving her into 10th place in the UMKC career scoring records with 991 points. Lady Roos crush UTPB 7-0
The women’s tennis team stormed to a 7-0 victory against Texas-Permian Basin (UTPB) on Saturday morning in El Paso, Texas. They completed a weekend sweep by defeating UTEP 4-3 on Sunday. Everything seemed to click on Saturday for the Roos, who outclassed the hosting Falcons in doubles and singles play in a contest. The lady Roos won all three doubles contests and defeated the Falcons in all six singles matches. Head Coach Kendell Hale praised the team’s effort while keeping the season goals at the forefront of his plans. “Our team goal this year is of course to win the Conference Championships, which is always where we start,” Hale said. The women’s basketball team solidified its 4th place standing in the Summit League after a punishing 84-69 victory over Western Illinois on Saturday evening in Macomb, Ill. The women’s tennis team fell 6-1 to Drake on Saturday morning at the Roger Knapp Tennis Center against the Bulldogs. Despite a 79-73 loss to South Dakota State on Saturday night at Swinney Recreation Center, the Lady Roos remain in 4th place position in the Summit League. The women’s basketball team stands in 4th place in the Summit League after a 60-54 loss at South Dakota on Saturday night preceded by a 64-46 victory at Southern Utah last Monday. Junior Kim Nezianya produced her fifth double-double of the season as she tallied 11 points and 14 rebounds.
