Shatto Milk wins Innovation Center’s ‘Battle of the Brands’
The Bloch School Innovation Center and KCSourceLink kicked off their first-ever “Battle of the Brands” last month. The tournament style bracket competition between 64 local companies was narrowed down to two finalists, Shatto Milk and Boulevard Brewing. Visitors to the bracket at www.kcsourcelink.com were encouraged to vote for their favorite brand. Each round of the competition was set up similar to the NCAA basketball tournament with such names as “Epic 8,” “fighting four” and “toothsome two.” Ultimately, with the help of Facebook, Twitter and other social media Shatto Milk won after voting closed last Tuesday.
In the “fighting four,” Boulevard and Shatto defeated BB’s Lawnside BBQ and Indigo Wild, respectively.
Because Shatto Milk and Indigo Wild initially tied, a tiebreaker voting session was held March 26, delivering Shatto Milk’s sudden-death victory.
